Providing food to 300+ families each month
Community is Built
This
rural northern area of Spokane County in Eastern Washington is one of
the
poorest areas, with high unemployment levels and many seniors on fixed
incomes. The Pantry serves people closer to their homes out here,
because increased gas prices
and inflation is making it difficult to travel from this outlying area
to
apply for assistance in downtown Spokane.
Our
clients average 125 - 200 lbs. of groceries per family per month. The North
County Food Pantry is a “Home-like" setting where you can come in and have a lively
conversation with neighbors. You may have a delicious hot meal as you wait or
get a shower, or do laundry (with the condition that it must be done by closing
time).
The Senior Box
Program
In addition to
this the Pantry also distributes monthly basic government commodities. You
may qualify for this if you are over 60 and meet the
income guidelines, you self declare your income, so no proof is needed. A senior
box weighs approximately 60 lbs. with cereals, canned goods, juices,
vegetables, fruit, crackers, cheese and instant or shelf-stable milk
